I seem to have created a flurry of responses to my comment on the Kapiti independent news' website. My observations as a former deputy mayor, as to the proceding and the on the election of the Deputy Mayor did not find favour with 'One Kapiti' candidates, both elected and non elected.

I smile when I am accused of being bitter. I chose not to stand for Council so the allegation of bitterness seems a bit wild. Freedom is a better expression.

Yes my observations were harsh and justifiabily so. Yet I maintain an independent mind and a right to convey my observations as a private and interested citizen.

I am no longer an officer of the people and I find it interesting that people who have been harsh critics of both me and the former council are now whinginging when they are themselves critisied.

So welcome to the real world of being a politician and the people's servant.
