Wellington's train woes worry

warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'Pacific/Auckland' for 'NZDT/13.0/DST' instead in /home/annchap/public_html/sites/all/themes/zeropoint/page.tpl.php on line 184.

The most recent news of the latest problems with our commuter trains is very vexing. While I accept that it must be extremely difficult to work the $500 million upgrade into a working train schedule either GW or Trans Metro are remiss in their management of it. Information to commuters must improve. Commuters will eventually get a first rate service but only if we can retain them.

The lack of investment over the last decade or more is a contrbuting factor and not the fault of the present regimes. However that is no help to communters needing to get to work in a timely fashion. The added woe of midwinter cannot help.

Once 'on track' we may need to get better feedback on communters versus bikes in peak time. Never mind the ability to carry more passengers. But let's take one battle at a time.

Let's get the trains rolling first before we tackle other issues

RadionNZ interview on Nine to Noon

Jenny Rowan was one of the people on the radio with Kthryn Ryan, on Nine to Noon this morning.
Here's the link to the podcast, that works for 1 week, I think.

It's a 25 minute item, and Jenny comes in just before half way at 11:30 minutes.

Thank you for that. I did get to hear part of it as I was driving but missed Jenny's part. I shall listen in this evening.
